It was this year that a Parisian gunsmith by the name of Casimir Lefaucheux produced the one. Overall this is a nice example of a Belgian Lefaucheux model 1854 revolver with the American Civil War connection and will likely sell soon. The story of the Lefaucheux revolver actually dates back to 1832. The cylinder does sometimes need a little help indexing as the groves in the back of the cylinder are pretty worn. The hammer spring works well and fully cocks and the trigger releases it as it should. It is missing the extractor rod as many of these are but does have the loading gate. The gun has clearly been heavily used and has some condition issues. LEFAUCHEUX INV BREVETE which indicates that Lefaucheux was the inventor and patent holder that licensing was paid to to make this. This gun has Belgian proof marks and inspection marks and has the inscription of E.

The specimen for sale here is serial number 39,366 which fits right within this range that was issued to the 9th Missouri State Militia Cavalry Regiment. I have the listing of all of them, but we will list a few specific ones issued in 1863 to CO B 9TH MO STATE MILITIA CAV.

Much of this research has been done over the past few decades by Frank Mallory and the Springfield Research Service. the ELG in a oval is the proof mark of the city of Lige in Belgium in use untill juillet 1893, the M with a crown is the controeur marking in use before January 1877. There are only 167 of these 13,263 revolvers that specifically have their serial number recorded in the national archives in any documentation that has been found so far. 3 (Edited) It's not a Lefaucheux revolver but a Belgium made 7 mm pinfire revolver. There is also an unknown amount of pinfire revolvers that the Confederate Army imported. The other 3,263 were gathered from various gun dealers and suppliers in the United States and Europe. Lefaucheux was also supplying Italy a large order at the same time as well as other customers. 10,000 of these were a direct order from EugР“РЃne LefaucheuxРІР‚в„ўs company by the ArmyРІР‚в„ўs purchasing agent, Col. I'm only selling these vintage civil war era revolver parts from my privet collection because we have fallen behind in our mortgage and we received a letter that they are going to start for-closer, and me and my wife are trying to get the back mortgage paid off, so we don't loose our home. As I said earlier, revolver parts have makers marks on them. These are vintage revolver parts and are sold as-is. It is also a 'fact' that several generals for the confederacy carried lefaucheux revolvers. And it a well known fact that the french provided lefaucheux pin-fire revolvers for the north and south. well in the civil war range, which the civil war was from 1861 to 1865. I did sone research on this small pocket revolver and it seems it was manufactured between 1860 to 1865.
